Build out of a center with a set of identical mirroring and superposing wings, the flat spiral bracelet is delightfully easy to make. Its flexible drape permits you to convert it effortlessly into a stunning necklace.
Challenge:
- Understanding the thread path of the flat spiral weave and learning to control its thread tension.
Supplies for a winged bracelet in flat spiral weave:
- 3 types of beads :
- 6x6 mm round Czech beads for the center or the spine,
- 4x4 mm round Czech beads for the outer edge of the spiral
- and 11/0 seed beads to connect them
- thread, needle and toggle clasp
- scissors and beading mat
Weaving instructions for a flat spiral bracelet:
- pick up: two 6 mm center beads, four seed beads, one 4 mm outer edge bead and four seed beads
- circle back through the first two 6 mm beads
- you have created your first wing
- repeat for the other side: pick up four seed beads, one 4 mm outer edge bead and four seed bead
- circle back through the same two center beads
- push the wing to the opposite side so that both sides mirror each other
- *to create the wing of the next segment: pick up a 6 mm center bead, four seed beads, one 4 mm outer edge bead and four seed beads
- circle back through the last two center beads
- as a result, you have a part of the wing that superposes the previous one
