Elements are parts you may potentially connect together to create earrings, bracelets, charms, pendants and necklaces to your heart's content. As in the “Plum” bracelet, the flat “Square Element” is a peyote with a tweak that breaks a straight line in two pieces to create a corner.
Challenge:
Don't forget to create a step-up to get to the following round. Pay attention to add two beads in each corner.
Supplies for the “Square Element”:
- 11/0 Japanese tubular seed beads type Delica in two colors: color A and color B
- S-lon thread size D and needle #12
- scissors and a bead mat
Weaving instructions for the “Square Element”:
- cut off about 1,20 m thread and keep 20 cm tail thread
- set-up: pick up a PAIR number of Delica beads for each side: side 1 - 3 in color A for the side, 1 in color B for the corner, side 2 - 3 in color A, 1 in color B, side 3 - 3 in color A, 1 in color B, side 4 - 3 in color A, 1 in color B
- you picked up 16 beads in total
- pass your needle through all the beads to make a circle and continue till you get in front of a corner bead in color B
- round 3: *pick up 3 beads in color B, skip the corner bead and go through the next bead which is in color A
- pick up a color A, skip a bead and go through the next bead*
- pick up 3 beads in color B, skip the corner bead and go through the next bead
- note: this is the only round in which you add three beads in each corner
- pick up a color A, skip a bead and go through the next bead
- repeat the process *...* two more time
- go through one more bead (which is in color B) to make a step-up and get access to the next round
- note: the step-up consists of two beads of which one of the recent round and one of the next round without skipping a bead
- round 4: **pick up 2 beads in color B, skip the corner bead and go through the next bead which is in color B
- pick up a color A, skip a bead and go through the next bead, pick up a color A, skip a bead and go through the next bead**
- repeat **...** three more times
- make a step-up by going through the next bead
